Huawei recently launched its new P60 flagship series and along with it, the brand unveiled its latest foldable phone, the Mate X3. The device is the follow-up to last year’s Mate X2, but it comes with a slightly smaller display with a higher refresh rate, as well as swapping out the MediaTek chipset with one from Qualcomm.

The Huawei Mate X3 sports a 6.4-inch outer display and a 7.85-inch inner display. Both use an OLED panel with a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, but only the outer display is equipped with LTPO technology and Kunlun Glass for protection — the phone itself is rated at IPX8 for dust and water resistance.

Under the hood, everything is run by a Qualcomm SoC that’s listed as the “Snapdragon 8+ 4G”, the same one in the P60 lineup. It’s presumed that this chipset is the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, but it does not come with support for 5G. This is paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage via Huawei’s proprietary expandable NM card technology.

The Huawei Mate X3 features a three-camera setup on the back consisting of a 50MP main sensor, 13MP ultra-wide, and 12MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. Additionally, the foldable has two 8MP selfie shooters, one for each side of the display.

Powering the device is a 4,800mAh battery with support for 66W wired charging and 55W wireless charging. As for connectivity, it supports 4G, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.2, and it even has an infrared blaster.

The Huawei Mate X3 comes in white, black, violet, dark green, and gold and ships with EMUI 13.1. It starts from CNY12,999 (~RM8,400) for the base model with 256GB of storage and CNY15,999 (~RM10,340) for the top-tier 1TB storage version.

While it’s only available in China now, Huawei is letting customers preview the foldable along with the P60 series in its Malaysian stores in person, but it hasn’t officially announced if either of the devices will be sold here yet.
