ASUS pulled back the veil from its addition to the ROG lineup, the Cetra. The Cetra is a pair of low-latency TWS earbuds and the first truly wireless audio peripheral of the lineup.
Like most modern earbuds on the market, the Cetra come with features that would be considered standard. This includes a Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) that actively filters out ambient noise to provide a more immersive experience, although it is unclear what the sound pressure level (SPL) on these earbuds would be like. These earbuds include Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, which in our opinion, seems a little bit lagging, given that other audio brands are using Bluetooth 5.2 and, for a select few, the newer Bluetooth 5.3 standard.
Other specifications of the Cetra include a frequency response between 20Hz and 20KHz, and 10mm Neodymium magnet drivers in each earbud, which are actually pretty big; most earbuds usually have physical drivers between 5mm and 6mm to drive sound into our ears, so anything with a diameter greater than that is uncommon, but not exceedingly rare. Performance-wise, ASUS says that the sound quality is clean for the mids and highs, while the bass is “powerful” and “true-to-life”.
Moving on, the Cetra also comes with 5.5-hour battery life, with an additional 21.5 hours of power provided through its charging case, bringing the total amount of listening time up to 27 hours. Having said that, ASUS does not specify if that number is with ANC on or off. Lastly, the earbuds are also splash resistant, with a water and dust resistance rating of IPX4, allowing whoever is using this to use them while in a fairly wet situation. Oh, and apparently, you can also control its functions via ASUS Armoury Crate app, be it on mobile or desktop.
The ASUS ROG Cetra are already available for purchase at all authorised dealers, as well as via ASUS’ official online store pages at Lazada and Shopee. It retails for RM515.
