Following its recent teaser, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has officially unveiled the EQA all-electric SUV in Malaysia. The launch marked the official arrival of the Mercedes-EQ lineup into our market after it was delayed for around two years mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The EQA is being positioned as the entry-level model of the EQ family and generally has the same design language and outline as per the GLA. As mentioned in our previous report, it is generally quite easy to tell them apart as the EQA has a black fully-closed grille on its front.

In addition to that, Mercedes-Benz has also implemented a continuous lighting design that covers from one side to another for the EQA headlamps and taillights. The company also pointed out that there are blue stripes inside EQA’s headlamps which is a typical feature of Mercedes-EQ vehicles.

While EQA comes in several variants, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is only bringing the base EQA 250 option at the moment. Featuring a front-wheel-drive layout, this particular variant carries a 140kW motor that delivers 375Nm of torque with a top speed of 160km/h.

As for its battery, the EQA 250 has a capacity of 66.5 kWh that allows the all-electric SUV to travel for a maximum range of 426km according to WLTP standards. When it comes to charging time, it takes 5 hours and 45 minutes with an AC 11kW charger to have EQA 250’s battery level from 10% to 100%.

The charging time can be cut down significantly when using 100kW DC fast chargers which allows the SUV to go from 10% to 80% within 30 minutes. In addition to having free access to 30 DC fast chargers deployed by JomCharge at Mercedes-Benz showrooms throughout Peninsular Malaysia until 2023, customers will be provided with a 1-year JomCharge subscription which allows them to utilise JomCharge chargers throughout the country for half-price.

Price-wise, the EQA 250 which is brought to Malaysia as a CBU model can be obtained for RM278,201.25 with delivery expected to take place this April. The SUV is covered by the standard 4-year warranty while the battery module and components come with their own 8-year warranty.
