YONG PENG: DAP is ”beyond saving” for verbally attacking an old man who stood up for his son, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said that Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming’s derogatory remarks about Yong Peng Barisan Nasional candidate Ling Tian Soon’s father is totally uncalled for and disrespectful.

”Ling’s father was only standing up for his son. He (Nga) resorted to running the senior citizen down in a bad light.

”Five thousand years of Chinese culture and is this all about hate?

”Does he need to attack an old man like this in the state election?” he said in his speech at the MCA mega ceramah here Friday (March 11).

In a DAP ceramah just 200m away, Nga, who is also Teluk Intan MP, said that he was willing to meet Ling’s father face-to-face, and tell him that it’s wrong to support Barisan Nasional.

“I will tell Ling’s father that your son supported the wrong party and it’s wrong to support a party led by crooks,” he said, in an apparent reference to Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Nga added that, “My 80-year-old father is not like Ling’s father, he is okay with his son to worship a thief.”

Nga also said it doesn’t matter if Ling loses Yong Peng on polling day, as he still has his job as a political secretary to the Transport Minister.

In a statement on March 9, Nga called for support for DAP’s candidate Alan Tee Boon Tsong, saying it would be ”Buy 1 Free 1” for the people.

He said this is because Ling would still have the resources to serve the people in Yong Peng.

Feeling upset over Nga’s comment, Ling’s 74-year-old father King Hoa, responded in a video that his son was a ”complimentary item”.

”Your son is precious to you. Then what about others’ sons?

”My son is definitely not some ‘cheap or free’ item,” said the senior in the video which was aired during Ling’s ceramah on Thursday (March 10).

Dr Wee noted MCA is a civilised and practical party that won’t resort to mudslinging to win votes.

”I feel angry seeing how he (Nga) responded to Ling’s father.

”But I’m also happy because this clearly shows that DAP has run out of tricks,” he said.

With polling being hours away, Barisan and Pakatan Harapan have ramped up their campaigns by holding mega-ceramah in Yong Peng featuring top guns, in hopes to sway fence sitters at the eleventh-hour.
