Philips isn’t a brand we’d associate with desktop monitors, but the Dutch multinational brand recently added a new SKU to its portfolio. Officially called the 45B1U6900CH, the product is described as a SuperWide, given its non-standard size.

Specifically, the 45B1U6900CH SuperWide is a plus-sized, ultrawide 44.5-inch desktop display with a maximum resolution of 5120 x 1440 pixels. To put that in another context, the monitor has an aspect ratio orf 32:9, which is essentially a combination of two QHD desktop monitors. Oh, and it’s a TUV Rheinland certified, meaning that your eyes are protected from blue light-induced eye strain.

More than that, the SuperWide monitor is also curved, with a curvature level of 1500R, which translates into a 178° viewing angle. Other specifications include a variable refresh rate of 75Hz with a 4ms GTG response time, a peak brightness of 400 nits, and being certified for Display HDR 400. Ports-wise, the monitor comes with two HDMI 2.0 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4, and two USB-C ports that support upstreaming, DP Alt mode Data, and PD charging of up to 100W. Additionally, it also comes with two built-in 5W speakers, making it good in a pinch, when your headphones are not at your desk or you don’t even have a dedicated speaker system.

Beyond the standard outputs and eye-catching selling points, the USB-C ports of the SuperWide monitor also supports RJ45 docking, and can therefore provide you with another avenue of wired internet connectivity. If you are connecting the monitor directly to a laptop, it’ll charge it at the same time, but you’re going to need to ensure it supports 100W charging. Lastly, and as parting piece of the SuperWide, it also comes with an integrated 5MP webcam that Philips says will deliver sharp images and crystal clear conversations, thanks to its built-in noise cancelling microphone as well.
